Silicon Beach 2022 Summer Preview

Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of the season, and we are so excited to be part of and in store for such amazing lineups of summer events. Festivals are back and better than ever, with every weekend offering an opportunity for music, art, performances, food trucks, and local treasures right in our backyard. If you're looking for nature, free, or family-friendly activities, we got you covered, so mark your calendars and get ready for a fun-filled, unforgettable summer of ‘22!
“Yours for a Better Community: Celebrating the Best of America” is this year’s theme for LAX Coastal’s 22nd annual Westchester July 4th Parade and we are proud sponsors. It will take place on Loyola Boulevard from Westchester Park to Loyola Marymount at 11 am, with more than 1,000 participants, interactive floats, and festive surprises! Later that evening, head to Marina del Rey for their traditional 9 pm fireworks show. Grab a spot early at one of the Marina’s waterfront restaurants or Chase Park to watch the fireworks over the main channel, with music courtesy of 88.9 KXLU radio.
Celebrate quintessential SoCal culture at Venice’s largest street fair! The Venice Summer Fest takes place on Venice Blvd in-between Grand View and Centinelaon on June 25th, 12-8 pm. The streets will be full of 150+ local brands, L.A.’s best food trucks, 20 performing artists, music, drinks, games, and dancing to create the ultimate summer celebration!

On June 11th, the L.A. Pride in the Park festival is back with a bang after a two-year break. You’ll be wowed at the Los Angeles State Historic Park with over 30 acres of gorgeous outdoor space, live music, DJs, food, exhibitions, and performances that include Anitta, Syd, Chika, Michaela Jaé, and Christina Aguilera! Event runs 1-11pm.

Nothing says summer like a Rosé pool party, so head to Hotel June on Saturday, June 11 for National Rosé Day! This Westchester gem is offering a day pass to its Baja-inspired Caravan Swim Club so you can enjoy DJ tunes, tasty bites, poolside hangs and of course plenty of Summer Water Rosé! Hotel June
Want to combine a healthy activity with your wine tasting? The Malibu Wine Hike tour is the perfect blend as you take a 2.5-mile loop around Saddlerock Ranch where you’ll hear about their varietals and the winemaking process, see the historic Cave of the Four Horsemen, and take some selfies with the llamas! Check out their other options…a Vintage VW wine tour is on our bucket list!

Would you like to test your skills at making and sailing your very own cardboard yacht!? This year the annual Annenberg event kicks off early, so you’ll want to register asap and get in the creative mode. Build a yacht using just corrugated cardboard and duct tape, decorate it, race it across the Beach House Pool and hope it floats! Don’t worry if it doesn’t, there are people’s choice awards given too, including "Most Likely to Sink", "Best Use of Theme", and "Most Spirited". The race will be live on June 18th, 11-5, and it’s worth going even if only to cheer for your favorite creations.

Events at the SoFi, the largest and first "indoor-outdoor" stadium in the NFL, is truly an unforgettable L.A. experience. Summer concerts range from Kenny Chesney to Red Hot Chili Peppers, and no seat is too high with the “Infinity Screen” suspended over the field like a spaceship. Its 70,000 square feet of digital LED, with about 80 million pixels is longer and wider than the football field itself.

If you’d like to step back in time, both in style and setting, The L.A. Conservancy is offering its Last Remaining Seats series again in L.A.’s grand old movie palaces throughout June. To Sir, with Love will be screened at Regency’s Village Theatre in Westwood on June 4th, The Immigrant and The Kid followed by Blade Runner: The Final Cut will be at the Orpheum in DTLA on June 12th, along with The Women and Notorious at the Los Angeles Theatre on June 18th. Not to be missed!

Soak in the beauty and wonder of butterflies up close and personal at the Natural History Museum's seasonal outdoor exhibit. Marvel at hundreds of butterflies in all stages in a stunning natural environment, count the 30 different species and if you’re lucky they just might land on your shoulders! Pro-tip: go between 10 - 11 am to see the most flying action.

This immersive and surreal forest journey created and directed by visionary artist Glenn Kaino is like a theatrically staged walk in the woods. Music, magic, and multi-sensory storytelling is designed to inspire audiences to reimagine their relationship with the natural world, within a 28,000-square-foot space in DTLA.

This fun (and dog-friendly!) antique market has been noted as one of the top ten “Flea Markets’ in America, and draws collectors of all ages with its eclectic mix of furniture, art, vintage clothes, estate jewelry, collectibles, rugs and a ton more. From eccentric to shabby chic to mid-century modern, treasures abound for every taste and style. It takes place on the 1st and 4th Sunday of the month and early admission starts at 6am. Ocean Park Blvd/Santa Monica Airport Area.
